Woodstock, Virginia

Investigators: Jamie, Aaron, Kelly, Doug and Joyce

History: I would have to say that the interest my cousin Kelly and I have in ghosts is completely the fault of our Aunt Joyce. At a young age we listened to her true accounts of paranormal events (and many prefabricated ones).  Interestingly enough, Joyce now lives in a house which is undoubtedly haunted. Several guests (including my mother) have reported being woken up in the night feeling the bed shake violently. My aunt has also had this occur on occasion. Most recently, the doorbells ring on their own. One day the front, back, and side doorbells had my aunt running from door to door trying to figure out who was playing such a childish prank. There was no one at any of the doors, and my aunt spent the rest of the time sitting outside waiting for my uncle to come home. The basement is also a place where many feel uncomfortable. One small room in particular stays closed, and many times my aunt has felt cold spots, and the hair standing on her neck. The feeling of someone watching is also present. She says that she knows when she can go in the basement and when she can't based on the initial feeling when she opens the door.  This room was once the cistern.  The events don't stop there. Chanting has been heard, and she has also seen someone walk by the bedroom doorway.  Things have been heating up in Woodstock.  My aunt has since seen a shadowy figure standing in her kitchen doorway while she was doing dishes.  She and my uncle both have been startled out of sleep in the middle of the night terrified that there are others in the room with them.

March 8, 9, and 10, 2002- Woodstock, VA Kelly, Aaron and I traveled to the mountains to see what type of readings we could get using our equipment.  Upon arriving, we were told that the house had been unusually quiet recently.  It seemed that whatever was haunting the house had moved on.  We had suspected that the spirit was that of my uncle's former wife who sadly passed away in the house.  We felt that my aunt's remodeling and redecorating stirred up the spirit and triggered the haunting.  We discovered after arriving that my uncle's former mother-in-law had passed away two weeks before March 8, 2002.  Interestingly enough, the haunting ceased at that same time.

Results: We had no readings on any of our instruments, and there were no significant ghost photos taken.  We did venture to the neighboring house, once the home of the former mother-in-law, and we were able to get several EVP's and also some photos.

Though my aunt's house did not produce any photos, the house next door was quite active.
