Flaming Ship of Ocracoke
During the first new moon in September, a ship of immigrants from Europe were sailing near Ocracoke, NC. The crew and captain murdered the passengers and stole all their valuables. They set out in a longboat after setting the ship on fire to hide their crime. Unfortunately for the thieves, the ship turned toward them and ran them down and then turned back to sea. Many see the flaming ship and hear the cries of those murdered each new moon in September.
