Ghost Hunting Equipment
When you think of ghost hunting equipment, you usually think of the equipment used by the Ghostbusters in the movies. Real ghost hunters don't use that kind of equipment. Here are examples of equipment we use:
Flashlight- You always need a light source when you are investigating.
Notebook and Pencil- This is used to write down things such as weather, ghost experiences, places you are investigating, and times.
Camera- A 35 mm camera with 400 speed film is used for taking ghost photos
Tape Recorder- A regular tape recorder can be used to record ghost sounds. Try to get one with an attachable microphone called an external microphone as seen in the photo.
Compass- A regular compass can be used to find ghosts. When a ghost is near, the compass arrow spins around and can't find north.

Digital Camera- A digital camera doesn't use film and let's you see the pictures as you take them. It saves money on buying film and developing.
Digital Recorder- A digital recorder is like a regular recorder but doesn't use tapes.
EMF Detector-An EMF detector is used to find ghosts. When a ghost is nearby, the detector will make a whining noise and measure between 2.0 and 7.0. It measures the electromagnetic field.
Video Camera- A video camera that has a special light called night vision can be used to video tape ghosts. It is also good to video tape the ghost hunt so you have a record of where everyone is and what they were doing.
Infrared Light- An infrared light like this one is used with the video camera. It adds the night vision light so the video camera can see further in the dark.
Dowsing Rods- These are used to find ghosts. When you hold them in your hand, they move around and cross when a ghost is near.
Ultra Violet Light- A UV light can be used to see ghosts. This is a new piece of equipment that Gettysburg Ghosts is experimenting with.
Investigator- The most important piece of equipment is you. Be smart and use all your senses to look for ghosts.
Remember! You don't need fancy equipment to look for ghosts. A compass, camera (even one of those throw away cameras will work!), flashlight, and notebook and pen are all you need to start looking.
